The Keeley Compressor Plus is a definite PLUS to my sound. I borrowed a Boss compressor from a buddy many years ago, but after giving it a try for a few weeks, I just didn"t love it and decided I was better off without it. But as most guitarists are ever searching for the ultimate tone, I eventually decided to give the Keeley Plus a try after

The Compressor Plus now sports a Blend Control that retains the peaks in your playing and, more importantly, the proper phasing of your guitar signal. The Keeley Compressor Plus offers the same gorgeous push of frequencies and sweetening of tone that the old comps gave you, now with the flexibility to easily handle any instrument.
It runs on standard 9V power, and there’s a battery compartment. Like most of Keeley’s compressors, the Plus is based on the 1970s Ross Compressor, which was itself a near-clone of the earlier MXR Dyna-Comp. (Really. I’ve got schematics for the Ross and MXR right here, and the “two” circuits are very similar.)
Oklahoma’s Robert Keeley Electronics has actually sold nearly 50,000 U.S.-made compressor pedals—a remarkable figure for an indie builder.
The Keeley is also known for being a dead quiet pedal, which while still being an analog process, means that your signal won’t have any added noise due to the compression being applied. While the Keeley compressor is somewhat designed to act as a utility for your overall guitar tone, it’s a great enhancer for all of your other effects. 5. Xotic SP
