I can safely say that exporting to GPX won't be part of the final release of v3 of Google Earth. It definitely seems like something we should do in the next release. Long before then, someone will do an XSLT conversion of KML to GPX and offer a way for you to get what you want.

I did use an online file converter to convert the .gpx file to .kml and that did work BUT the converter was limited to 10mb and the .gpx file is almost 20mb so I'm missing some new waypoints. In addition the new file has new marks that appear once on GE and also includes old marks from an last year that appear as duplicate marks everywhere in GE.
