1. Use the values from the png colour swatch and edit the colourmap of any particular indexed image. The color map dock is in Windows -> Dockable dialogues and Edit comes from there. 2. In Gimp a colormap cannot be separated from its indexed image but it is inherited by any added image.

Cannot convert to Indexed mode. in the Image > Mode menu the entry indexed is greyed out. Other posts i found in this subreddit with this problem were solved by switching to 8-bit precision and sRGB profile, but that was already the setup when i looked it up, yet i can still not change to indexed mode to export it as an animated gif.

I want to reduce the number of colors like image->mode->indexed does, but just on the selected parts, not in the whole image. Right cllick on selection > Colors> Posterize. Acording to what I've find on the web (and on my tests), posterize doesn't take the colors from the image like image->mode->indexed does.
